News
Planned to begin installation in April and completed by mid year, the high definition cameras will be located around the clock tower with vision down to the intersection of Scarborough Beach Road and West Coast Highway, on the grassed reserve and playground area north of the Maureen Grierson Centre and on Manning Road.
The Mayor, Cr David Boothman said the project is a valuable part of the overall crime reduction strategy in Scarborough Beach Foreshore as part of the City’s vision to create a safe and vibrant community.
“These cameras will provide additional peace of mind for businesses and residents alike,” he said.
The project is designed to help reduce antisocial behaviour, public drinking, graffiti, vandalism and assaults and is possible due to funding obtained by the State Government through the Office of Crime Prevention as part of the Community Crime Prevention Program.
“CCTV camera’s will not reduce crime on its own, and the City will continue to provide community patrols in the area and undertake dedicated patrolling of the foreshore,” Mayor Boothman added.
Local businesses can continue to play a role in helping prevent antisocial or suspicious behaviour in the community by reporting it to the City of Stirling Security Service on 1300 365 356 or the WA Police on 131 444.
